WES WEISER YOUTH OF THE YEAR
Established in 1997, by the Weiser family in honor and memory of, Chris and Margo’s son, Wes. The Wes Weiser Youth of the Year recognizes current and former members of the Boys & Girls Club who have displayed excellence in leadership, character, and outstanding service to the club and community. The young people selected are a tribute to Wes’s spirit and character.Nominees are judged on home and family relation, moral character, community service, school, life goals, essay’s and service to the club. Since 1997, fifty-five scholarships have been awarded.

DERRICK BERRY JR. YOUTH OF THE YEAR
Established in 2024, by the Berry family in honor and memory of Sharee and Derrick Berry Sr.’s son, Derrick Berry Jr (DJ). The Derrick Berry Jr. Youth of the year recognizes current and former members of the Boys and Girls club who have displayed excellence in leadership, character, and outstanding service to the club and community. The young youth that are selected are a tribute to Derrick’s loving personality, spirit and character. Nominees are judged on home and family relations, moral character, community service, school, life goals, essay’s and service to the club.
The first scholarship was awarded May 2024 to Kiya Derrick.

SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR
The award is given to a boy or girl who during the last year, while participating in various sports offered by the Boys & Girls Club, has demonstrated these qualities:
- concern for the team & its members
- a gracious attitude towards whom they compete, demonstrating respect for the rules and officials of the game
- during practice and competition, a constant desire to improve and achieve a higher level of skill and performance
- the determination to achieve personal and team goals without complaining or resorting to alibis
- looks forward to the opportunity to compete and reflects an attitude of enthusiasm, zest, eagerness, and joy
